The St. Pat's Music Cruise
Last Friday, Matthew played music for the St. Pat's Dinner Cruise aboard The Spirit of Lake Murray. We arrived early to set up and get ready (and for me...take pictures!) The evening was beautiful and so was the boat.
As folks started to arrive, many of them dressed in varying shades of green, they were shown to tables on the main deck and in the captain's cabin. Matthew was set up playing on the outer deck on the second floor, so several folks came up to listen after getting their seats.
We had a handful of family members (parents, sister/brother-in-law, aunt and uncle) book tickets as well, so it was extra special to sit down and eat with them and chat throughout the evening.
Matthew had the opportunity to speak with the captain and check out the bridge before the boat set sail....
...as you can see, he was hamming it up at the wheel!
Once we set sail (after we received our sailing orders and safety talk) Matthew started playing and the guests began to mingle around and listen. Several folks made their way to the second floor deck where Matthew was playing to watch as the sun set. It was such a peaceful time, watching as the sun went down over the water.
Dinner was served shortly after that, with everyone returning to their tables. The theme was decidedly Irish: bangers and mashed potatoes, curry chicken and rice, cabbage and onions, salad and dinner rolls, with a stout chocolate cake for dessert. Everything was delicious!
As the evening progressed, while several folks stayed at their tables to listen below deck, there were just as many who formed a crowd around Matthew and cheered him on. The faster the song, the louder the cheers. I think Irish Washerwoman was definitely the song of the evening!
A good time was had by all, as it was a wonderful experience out on the water. Matthew received a lot of comments on his music and we had such a fun time on The Spirit. Looking forward to going back!
